Shooting 90.5% from the free throw line did the job for Davis as they outlasted Syracuse 63-55 Tuesday night. Landon Horne led the Darts with 19 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Tallon Burton added 17, Josh VanWeezep another dozen for the #4 ranked Darts. For more on the game, click here and here

Tanner Hinds to play for Weber State
January 14th, 2010 · No Comments
5A MVP Tanner Hinds, who lead the Darts to the 5A final game this season, will continue his playing career for Coach Ron McBride at Weber State. “We are all very excited for Tanner to be wearing Wildcat Purple,” said his father Davis Hinds in an email.
Hinds was the leading rusher in the state and will certainly have a chance to make a difference in WSU’s football program, which has taken a positive jump the past two years.

Wolves Bite Darts in OT
January 14th, 2010 · No Comments
PLAIN CITY - In a game that both teams had plenty of chances to win, Fremont comes up with a huge Region 1 victory, knocking off Davis 75-71 in OT on Tuesday.
Fremont had a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter but managed to survive the major test in knocking off the Darts and taking sole possession of Region 1. Fremont is now 5-0 in Region play with Davis at 4-1. Patrick Fishburn netted 18 for the Silver Wolves. Jacob Nish added 16. Tallon Burton scored a game high 23 points for the Darts.

Davis 41, Hunter 17
November 14th, 2009 · No Comments
SALT LAKE CITY - Go ahead, start saying it. The real championship game was between Alta and Bingham. Davis has already heard it a 100 times. Everyone knows Bingham has this powerful team and that Davis is glad to be there. The Darts know what the world is saying to them, but on the field they want to let their play do the talking.
Davis blew out Hunter Friday night to advance to the 5A final game for the second time this decade, pounding Hunter 41-17. The Darts scored 21 unanswered points in the second half along with outstanding defense to secure the win.
Tanner Hinds scored two TD’s and rushed for 187 yards on the night. Nothing new for Hinds, just showing he is the most consistent RB in the state this year and should be the 5A Player of the Year, regardless of next week’s game. What was new for Hinds was fumbling the ball three times in the first half.
Gavin Fowler was perhaps the player of the game though for the Darts. The junior QB was 9 for 9 on his throws for 125 yards and a TD. Fowler also rushed for two TD’s and managed the game very efficiently for the Darts.
Sophomore Troy Hinds was a monster on the other side of the ball, totaling 15 tackles. Josh Kariya and Tim Jones each had nine for the Region 1 champions. For more insight to the Davis win, click the following links: Deseret News, Salt Lake Tribune. Photo courtesy of Salt Lake Tribune

5A First Round Playoffs
October 27th, 2009 · No Comments
It is not likely you can head over to Wendover and find any point spreads on Utah High School sports, but if you could, you can look here for the first round game-by-game prediction that at least, you can win a crappy t-shirt from a Salt Lake newspaper. You are welcome.
Riverton vs. Pleasant Grove. PG may be the greatest three seed ever. They roll big time 44-10
Davis vs. West. Panthers glad to extend season. Hinds and company puts a stamp on West 30-10
Hunter vs. Weber. Hunter rebounds from 2008 season. Wants to make a statement, knocks off the Warriors 24-14
Lone Peak vs. West Jordan. Lone Peak is good, very good. Great defense will allow LP to advance 24-0
Cottonwood vs. Viewmont. Best game of first round. Viewmont gave Davis only Region loss. C-Wood wants to prove themselves in 5A. Colts squeak by Vikings 24-23
Alta vs. Fremont. Fremont has played very well this year, but still a 5th place team in Region 1. Alta needs to make a definite statement and will, 40-14
Bingham vs. winner of Brighton/Jordan. Just not fair to either team. Miners win in major way 33-6
Syracuse vs. Skyline. Eagles just don’t have the horses to keep up with Syracuse, but this will be only Titans win in playoffs 17-10
